YOUR PERSONAL INFO:

When it comes to your Pinterest account, there are three portions you need to fill in: your profile photo, your bio information, and your contact info (website). You'll want to have your profile photo and bio filled in similar to what you'd do on Instagram. Add a clever bio with some emojis to make it a little more personal - you don't want to overdo the emojis and make it look unprofessional, just add some clever bits and pieces in a classy way. For your profile photo, either do a nice head-shot or a icon of your logo.

CREATING BOARDS:

Pinterest is known for the organization of their boards, and we love it! If you are as OCD as us, nothing is more satisfying than pinning all of our favorite pictures in the categories they belong in. When creating your Pinterest account, you're going to want to create a variety of boards - and the best part with it is you don't have to stick to any one theme. You can have a collection for fabrics and paint colors, you can have collections for modern homes, luxury homes, or chic homes. In fact, we recommend creating at least a minimum of 20 categorized boards to fill in with home stuff. From DIY, to growing plants, to decorating the home on their own. This really solidifies what industry you are in and what services you offer when you create boards in reference to homes. Don't be shy about the amount of boards you have, the more the better. You can create boards for other categories, but make sure the majority of your content is based around homes. You don't want random boards taking away from what your page is about and the services you offer.

YOUR PINS:

When you start pinning, whether it's your own pins, or someone else's, you want to make sure it's organized into the right categories. If the pins you share in your categories don't make sense with the title of your board, it'll be unappealing. The more organized and thought-out your pins are, the more attractive your page will become to others to make them want to follow it. Keep in mind, when you share someone else's pin, you're helping promote them. So post as many of your own photos as possible, and make sure each pin has a description with trending keywords related to your photo, and that when someone clicks on it - it takes them directly to your website or landing page.

GETTING FOLLOWERS:

There are a few ways you can grow your following. One - creating a large amount of categorized boards that have strong key words in the descriptions about that board. Same thing for the photos you pin, you want to make sure the descriptions indicate - with keywords - what the picture is about. Use as many trending tags as possible. This will help you come up better in searches. If your page is thoughtfully put together, it'll interest them to follow you. Next is pinning other people's photos. Sure it promotes them, but if they aren't a business, and you're sharing home pins they make, you get put into their spotlight to check out your page, and then will in turn follow you if your page is set up properly. Pinning tons of other people's photos is a great way to grow your followers. Just try to avoid pinning photos from local competition, so you aren't directing others to their site.
