Theme Moodboard

Theme moodboards are a blast to make! You get to bring the visual components of your client's needs to life. Before you make your theme moodboard, ask if your client can visit Pinterest.com and search for themes in home decor that they love and request that they send you up to 5 photos of spaces that match what they'd like to see in their room. Even with a verbal explanation of their wants/needs during the meeting, you still want to get these photos because what people visualize and communicate can sometimes not align. By asking for the photos, you really get to see what they want to see and put it together. Once you receive the photos, you're going to want to create a mood board of what your understanding is of their needs and send that over with the final draft of the floor plan to get their approval. The floor plan explains the layout, the moodboard really lets them get the full effect of what is to come.

The next module will go over making a mood board with the furniture and decor pieces you are inspired to use. In this mood board, you can focus on a variety of styles of photos, including interiors, but also add graphics that add to the emotion the room is to project. Like the sample moodboards show above, it portrays in all essence what each board would offer in atmosphere to a room. Do you want chic, or mid century? Do you want a light and colorful atmosphere or a dark elegance? Your mood board's job is to capture this and reflect the emotion of the room in the final design.
