Pinterest Your Space

The Pinterest world has completely been a game changer in regards to home decorating and staging. Not only has it given home stagers and decorators a strong role in our modern history, it defines the style of decor clients expect from their designs. When they hire an interior stager/decorator for their property, they expect their home to look like it came straight out of a Pinterest photo. Which can actually be a lot of fun to achieve, if your clients have the budget. Some tight-budget clients want to achieve the Pinterest look without the funds to invest into their space. In this chapter, we'll go over a variety of the top trending design looks on Pinterest. Although you can scour through Pinterest to find these photos (which we recommend you doing), we decided to create a chapter that organizes the most popular themes and what client's expect to get out of their space with their preferred decorating style.

The following themes are the top 3 trending decorating styles on Pinterest. From a branding perspective, if you build a design style around these top 3, it will significantly boost your success. Expect to have the majority of your clients from a general audience request design styles that are similar to the following 3.

MODERN FARMHOUSE AKA JOANNA GAINES:

Think shiplap walls, exposed wood floors, white painted brick, and a lovely array of greenery. Joanna Gaines is one of the biggest kickstarters in making this design trend come to life. It is modern in the cleanliness of the design aspect. Very few furnishings, and mostly in light colors, if not white. You'll find a large array of browns in decor items, like vases and through natural wood pieces, and even in refurbished, rustic, and metallic items. Similar to the photos provided.

MID-CENTURY MODERN:

We all know that styles are cyclical and, of course, the world of interior design is not exempt. The best aesthetics will be popular again and again. Right now, mid-century-modern design is making a comeback. If you’ve ever seen an episode of Mad Men, you’re already familiar with mid-century-modern design. It most commonly incorporates the styles that became popular in a post-World War II landscape. When you look at design projects that follow a mid-century-modern style, the one thing you won’t see is tons of excess. Rather than requiring a bunch of ornate embellishments, the mid-century look is all about stripping items down to their barest elements and letting their function become the star.
